Zohran Mamdani's wife is a pro-Palestinian, left-wing extremist

The possible new Democratic mayor would not be the only extremist if he wins the elections

Zohran Mamdani, the possible new Democratic mayor of New York, who is a Muslim extremist and communist, might not be the only radical to move into Gracie Mansion in the event of a victory.

His wife, an artist whose works are often noted for pro-Palestinian themes, will accompany him if he manages to win again in the November elections after his victory in the Democratic primaries.

Rama Duwaji, 27 years old, wife of the 33-year-old communist, joined him on stage after Tuesday night's surprise victory, in one of her rare public appearances during the campaign.

Until then, she had mostly stayed away from the cameras since Mamdani launched his candidacy in October, but she gained notoriety in May after The Post revealed details of her exclusive engagement held in Dubai.

During his victory speech against former governor Andrew Cuomo, Mamdani paused to dedicate a few words to his partner. "I must thank my unbelievable wife," he said to the applause of those present. "Thank you, Rama," he added, as he kissed her hand.

"I couldn't be prouder," Duwaji posted on Instagram after her communist husband's historic victory, a triumph that could make him the youngest mayor of New York since 1914.

Who is Rama Duwaji

Rama Duwaji's biography on Instagram, where she has about 85,000 followers, states that she is originally from Damascus, Syria. However, a campaign spokesperson told the New York Times on Wednesday that the artist "has Syrian ancestry but was born in Texas."

Duwaji said in an interview that she spent much of the COVID-19 pandemic with her family in Dubai, according to The Post last month.

She currently works as an illustrator and animator in Brooklyn, where she has lived for several years. She studied for a Master of Fine Arts with a specialization in illustration at the School of Visual Arts, where tuition per semester is more than $29,000.

Among the most renowned clients she has worked for are The New Yorker, The Washington Post, the BBC, and the Tate Modern gallery in London.

Duwaji's works, mostly digital illustrations with an ink and pen style, address themes centered on female identity, the Arab world, and the conflict in Palestine. Among her works, with a strong far-left bias, one can see women in burkas trapped under rubble or protesters with keffiyeh being attacked by the police.

One of her longest animations, also shared on Mamdani's Instagram account, claims that New York charities transfer more than $60 million to supposedly "finance Israeli war crimes."

"By recognizing groups like these as charities, New York is subsidizing the expansion of Israel's illegal settlements and state violence against Palestinians," the extremist asserts.

Other works refer to an alleged "ethnic cleansing" faced by Palestinians or express support for Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia University extremist who was arrested during the Trump administration for his participation in anti-Semitic protests against Israel at the institution.
