Secretary Marco Rubio congratulated Ecuador on free and peaceful elections.
The United States reaffirmed its support for Daniel Noboa's government and its fight against crime
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated President Daniel Noboa on his reelection in a process he described as "transparent, democratic, and peaceful." In a phone conversation held this Wednesday, both leaders reaffirmed their joint commitment to the continent's most urgent challenges.
During the call, Rubio highlighted the importance of bilateral cooperation on issues such as the fight against drug trafficking and combating transnational organized crime. Noboa, meanwhile, reaffirmed his determination to protect citizens against narcoterrorism through firm and sustained policies.
The dialogue also included regional interest topics such as the migration crisis and malign foreign influence in Latin America. Both officials agreed on the need to strengthen economic strategies to address the situation in countries like Haiti and Venezuela, emphasizing the shared vision of democratic stability and development.

Rubio took the opportunity to express his satisfaction with Ecuador's institutional performance and Noboa's leadership. The Ecuadorian leader achieved a significant victory over Luisa González, candidate of 21st-century socialism, in an electoral day recognized for its legitimacy by the international community.
Although the correísta candidate alleged supposed fraud, organizations like the European Union dismissed that possibility and only pointed out certain imbalances typical of the campaign. Nicolás Maduro's own statement, who also questioned the results, was interpreted by Ecuadorian authorities as a sign that the country is moving in the right direction.
Under Noboa's leadership, Ecuador faces an "internal armed conflict" from 2024 to contain criminal violence, one of the most severe legacies of previous governments. This firm stance has been recognized by Washington as a necessary step to restore peace and citizen security.

With this first official conversation between Rubio and Noboa, a new stage in bilateral relations between Ecuador and the United States begins. Both governments agree to prioritize regional security and economic development as the axes of their future collaboration.
Daniel Noboa thus consolidates himself as a leader committed to democratic values and a modern agenda aimed at solving Ecuador's structural problems.
