President Daniel Noboa renewed governorships in three key provinces

The new governors of Los Ríos, Santa Elena, and Imbabura are strengthening territorial work

President Daniel Noboa made his first changes in provincial governorships during his new term. He did so on Wednesday, June 18, through three executive decrees that strengthen his territorial presence in Los Ríos, Santa Elena, and Imbabura.

In Los Ríos, the new governor is Edwin Campo Vivanco, a retired Army major, who replaced Javier Buitrón.The latter held the position for three months and previously led the governorship of Esmeraldas, without achieving notable results in security and provincial coordination.

In Santa Elena, Xavier Negrete Sáenz was appointed in place of Gilberto Pino Herrera, who also remained in office for only three months. Negrete comes from the health sector, with experience at Hospital Liborio Panchana, and his appointment aims to improve public management in a province with high social demand.

In Imbabura, the government entrusted Leonardo Cabezas González, former political chief of Ibarra canton, who took office after the departure of Juan Echeverría.

This change represents an institutional promotion and a commitment to officials with direct experience in the field and knowledge of the local structure.

Governors are key figures for implementing the Executive's plans in each province and channeling state action. With these changes, President Noboa seeks greater operational efficiency and direct coordination between the central government and the population.

These decisions reinforce the government's commitment to governability and provincial security. The renewal of local leadership is part of a broader strategy to consolidate the State's presence in vulnerable areas.

With these changes, President Daniel Noboa demonstrates early responsiveness and a willingness for institutional improvement. By prioritizing technical profiles and those with field experience, his government reinforces its practical and results-oriented approach to governing more closely in line with the real needs of the citizens.
