The order from President Donald Trump that banned CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House was revoked early Thursday by a district judge after the Democratic media challenged this measure in court.
Judge Timothy Kelly, whose ruling is valid for two weeks, stated that the three left-leaning media "did not receive notification or the opportunity to be heard before their permanent passes" to the presidential residence were revoked. Although Kelly was appointed by Trump in 2017, he is the same judge who ruled in favor of Jim Acosta and CNN when this "journalist" had his press pass revoked at the White House in 2018.
The plaintiffs were fortunate that the case landed in Kelly's court. Trump lamented the ruling but has decided to appeal. "They got a great judge, for them, a man who ruled in favor of Jim Acosta, who now seems to have disappeared from the planet," the president wrote on Truth Social.
"The judge's name is Tim Kelly and, sadly, he was appointed by ‘TRUMP’. In other words, almost certainly and, as usual, we will appeal because the people of fake news and the publications that only write negatively, and that violate our national security by writing false and defamatory stories with ‘unknown’ sources, should not have access to the most important office in the world", he continued.
"FAKE NEWS IS A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY, and I will do whatever it takes to ensure that the U.S. thrives! LET'S MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!", declared the head of state, who had already warned weeks ago that Kelly was not a particularly fair judge.
