The socialist mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, introduced an annual tax on high-value properties owned by people who do not live in the city full time this Wednesday. This measure is part of their plan to increase taxes on residents and real estate owners and has already caused a rush of investors planning to leave New York territory
.“When I ran for mayor, I said I was going to tax the rich. Well, today we're taxing the rich. I am excited to announce that we have secured a luxury property tax (pied-à-terre), the first in New York history. This is an annual fee on luxury properties worth more than $5 million whose owners do not live full time in the city,” Mamdani said in a statement
.“This second home tax is specifically designed for the richest of the rich, those who keep their wealth in New York City real estate but don't actually live here. Even so, they can reap the enormous financial benefits of owning property in, I would dare say, the largest city in the world,” added the
communist politician. The announcement of the new tax comes after Mamdani said repeatedly since taking office that his government plan - which includes, among other things, free day care for the children of illegal immigrants - can only be financed by higher taxes for businessmen and for certain owners of high-value real estate.

Mamdani's plan that discriminates against the white population
Another project that Mamdani is pursuing is his racial equity plan, which is based on the fact that black New Yorkers have been disproportionately affected by the housing crisis in the city and, therefore, must be prioritized in action state.
