As the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran tries to hold after twelve days of clashes, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that Washington is on the verge of achieving a “total victory” over the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During a virtual intervention in support of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, Trump asserted that the central goal of his administration remains to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons. “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, it’s as simple as that”, he declared. “We are winning that battle and you will really win it in the next two weeks when we declare a total victory”.
The statement comes just hours after a day of maximum tension. Although both sides had agreed to a ceasefire brokered by Washington, Iran launched missiles towards northern Israel on Sunday night, triggering alarms in several localities. Israel responded with attacks on Iranian targets, raising fears of a new regional escalation.

Trump quickly intervened to prevent the situation from deteriorating. Through social media, he demanded that both countries “stop shooting immediately.” Subsequently, a senior Israeli official confirmed that Jerusalem agreed to suspend reprisals at the request of the U.S. president and believes that the current round of clashes with Iran has come to an end.
