The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced what he described as a historic diplomatic breakthrough for the future of the Gaza Strip: a deal reached by the so-called Board of Peace that includes the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other terrorist organizations operating in the Palestinian enclave.

In a message posted on the Truth Social network, Trump stated that the understanding represents a decisive step towards lasting peace and will allow Gaza to stop being used as a platform for attacks against Israel. He explained that the agreement stipulates that, once the disarmament process is completed, the Strip will be under the administration of a new Palestinian government that will work in coordination with the international body to rebuild the territory and ensure the security of its inhabitants.

The leader maintained that the initiative is part of his so-called "20-Point Plan" for the Middle East and will be implemented in several carefully planned stages. As disarmament progresses, the Israel Defense Forces will gradually reduce their presence in Gaza, while an International Stabilization Force and a new Palestinian police will take on security responsibilities.

Trump recalled that just a year ago the region was experiencing a high-intensity war, with a severe humanitarian crisis and dozens of Israeli hostages still in captivity. "We have made historic progress, although there is still much work to be done", he noted, also thanking the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, as well as the work of his negotiating team.

The U.S. president was emphatic in stating that "the threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will not be rebuilt", reaffirming that the security of Israel is a central element of the agreement.

Meanwhile, a senior U.S. official cited by Israeli media confirmed that months of confidential negotiations allowed for this progress and that implementation on the ground could begin in the coming weeks.

In parallel, reports emerged indicating that Hamas had sent an alternative proposal to the White House requesting a ceasefire of between ten and fifteen years in exchange for its gradual disarmament. However, Israel categorically rejected this initiative, labeling it as a propaganda maneuver that does not align with the framework promoted by Washington.

Israeli diplomatic sources reiterated that the government's position remains unchanged: there will be no significant military withdrawal or changes in the deployment of Israeli forces until Hamas surrenders its entire arsenal and the Gaza Strip is completely demilitarized, a condition deemed essential to prevent it from becoming a threat to the Israeli population again.
