United States Vice President JD Vance landed in Israel this Tuesday with the mission of reaffirming Washington's commitment to the peace agreement promoted by the Trump administration, after Hamas's repeated violations have put the truce reached just a few weeks ago at risk.
Vance arrived from Washington and was received at Ben Gurion Airport by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Justice and Interior Yariv Levin.
As soon as he set foot on Israeli soil, the vice president held an initial meeting with former President Donald Trump's envoys, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, who are also in the region overseeing the implementation of the agreement.
During his stay, Vance is scheduled to visit the United States Ceasefire Command Center, from where compliance with the commitments made by the parties is monitored.

The priority, according to diplomatic sources, is to ensure that Hamas stops the hostile actions that have violated the pact and that Israel can continue defending its population within the framework of the agreement.
In a statement prior to the visit, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he will discuss with Vance the "regional challenges and opportunities" facing Israel, especially after Hamas's refusal to return the bodies of the murdered hostages still held in the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu emphasized that Israel "will not give up its right to self-defense", even as it continues to cooperate with the United States in preserving regional stability.
Meanwhile, Trump's envoys, Kushner and Witkoff, stressed during their meeting with the prime minister that "it is legitimate to act in self-defense, but without endangering the truce", emphasizing that the main responsibility lies with Hamas, whose noncompliance has caused a new wave of tensions.
Vance's visit comes after high-level consultations between Netanyahu and Israeli security authorities, in which the steps to be taken in response to the terrorist group's provocations and the possibility of a new phase of the peace plan promoted by Trump were evaluated.
