The US launched an anti-illegal immigration commercial during prime time on Mexican television
The United States Secretary of Security announced a national and international campaign against illegal migration
During the weekend, millions of Mexicans witnessed a scene that exposes the fragility of the much-vaunted "national sovereignty" of the Morenista government.
On national television, during prime time and during the Liga MX matches, spots began to be broadcast from the United States government. In the spots, they seriously warn about the consequences of illegally crossing the border to the north.

What does the United States government commercial contain?
The ads are led by the Secretary of U.S. Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, and are part of a campaign driven by the Donald Trump Administration to curb irregular migration.
During the Biden administration, illegal migration increased considerably, causing damage to the American social fabric and its national security.
In the Spanish-subtitled spot, Noem delivers a direct message:
"If you're considering coming to the United States illegally, don't even think about it."

The images include scenes of border detentions, migrant caravans and justice-themed speeches. At another point in the video, the official warns:
"If you come to our country and break our laws, we will hunt you down. Criminals are not welcome in the United States."

Additionally, Noem takes the opportunity to praise former President Trump's policies, thanking him for "securing the border" and "restoring the security" of his country. The commercial concludes by stating that "the days of weak leadership are over," clearly referring to the disastrous Democratic administrations.
The fact that this type of message is freely broadcast on Mexican national television has caused outrage among various sectors. They claim that a commercial of this nature is a clear sign of subordination to Washington.
So, what sovereignty is Morena talking about?
Meanwhile, millions of Mexican viewers watched these foreign ads in their own country, the government of Claudia Sheinbaum continues to uphold a narrative of national sovereignty:
"no subordination or interference, national sovereignty first."
The president has repeated that slogan on multiple occasions since taking office, but reality contradicts her. The United States government not only dictates the country's migration agenda, it also has permission to promote it in Mexican prime time. And it doesn't stop there.

In March of this year, the same Kristi Noem visited Mexico City to meet with Sheinbaum and hand her a list of "requests" from the Trump Administration.
Despite this scenario, Morena insists on defending a supposed independence from "American imperialism." But in reality, it allows direct interference from Washington in migration policies, security, technology, and telecommunications.
This double standard only confirms what many Mexicans already suspect: the sovereignty that this government boasts is, in reality, a paper sovereignty.
