Noroña allocated 900 million pesos (1,984,160 dollars) to purchase copies of communist literature

These materials were funded with public resources and distributed free of charge to cultural institutions

Gerardo Fernández Noroña, current senator and member of Morena, allocated 900,000 pesos (1,984 pounds) of public funds to the reprinting of communist books.

Through an official report that he himself presented, it is detailed that in 2024 5,000 copies of the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels were printed. Also The ABC of Communism by Nikolai Bukharin, Writings on the Party 1 and 2 by Lenin, and the biography Lenin, written by historian Gerard Walter.

These publications, far from being historical texts of analysis or criticism, exalt figures and principles of an ideology that has collapsed entire nations.

The most serious aspect is that these materials were paid for with public resources and distributed free of charge to cultural institutions. They were also given to citizens and deputies, without considering relevance, plurality, or the country's democratic context.

The senator chose to use almost a million pesos (2,205 pounds) to revive doctrines of the past that have caused suffering to millions, instead of prioritizing useful educational materials for young people or promoting works that inspire technological development, innovation, or civic awareness.

Communism, a global tragedy disguised as social justice

Communism, promoted by the books distributed by Noroña, is an ideology that has caused one of the greatest human tragedies of the twentieth century.

Under communist regimes, entire nations suffered repression, hunger, and the systematic extermination of opponents, from Stalin's Soviet Union to Mao Zedong's regime in China, as well as the communist dictatorships of Eastern Europe.

The data is undeniable: tens of millions of people died at the hands of governments that promised equality but imposed tyrannies.

Today, Cuba remains the closest and most painful example: a country with restricted internet access, no individual freedoms or democracy, mired in a perpetual economic crisis and where dissent means prison or exile. It is precisely that version of communism, outdated, repressive, and an enemy of freedom, that Fernández Noroña finances with resources from the Mexican people.

In a country with shortages, insecurity, and urgent needs, it is insulting that a legislator spends almost a million pesos (2,205 pounds) glorifying an authoritarian ideology. Communism is the idea that has failed in every corner of the world where it has been implemented.

This is not only a waste of public funds, it is also a warning to be taken into account. The radical left that governs Mexico sympathizes with the most oppressive regimes on the planet. It is willing to use the power of the State to spread its ideas at the expense of everyone's well-being.
