The Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires is preparing for a sudden change in weather with the arrival of the Pampero, a cold wind coming from the southwest that will bring rain, intense gusts, and a marked drop in temperatures during the weekend of November 7 and 8.
After spring-like days with highs close to 25 °C, the advance of a cold front from Patagonia will change the weather conditions. According to the forecast released by meteorologist Mauricio Saldívar from Meteored, the thermometer could drop to 7 °C in some areas of the Buenos Aires metropolitan area.
What is the Pampero and why does it cause sudden temperature changes
The Pampero is a characteristic wind of central and eastern Argentina that originates from the influx of cold air masses from the south and southwest.
Its arrival is usually accompanied by a shift in the wind, a decrease in temperature, and sudden changes in cloud cover. At times, it also causes precipitation during the advance of the cold front.

After its passage, the air generally becomes drier, favoring clear nights and mornings with considerably lower temperatures.
How the weather will be on Friday, November 6
Friday will start with relatively mild temperatures, although cloud cover will gradually increase.
Highs could range between 23 and 25 °C, according to Meteored, while the chances of rain will increase towards the afternoon and evening.
The cold front will arrive accompanied by winds that will shift to the south, with gusts that could exceed 40 km/h.
The consulted forecasts show differences regarding the intensity of the precipitation, although they agree on indicating a period of instability followed by a thermal drop.
On Saturday, the 7th, strong winds will arrive and temperatures will drop
Saturday will be one of the most uncomfortable days of the weekend, with mostly cloudy skies in the morning and chances of drizzle in areas of the west and south of the metropolitan area.
