Kiev launched a record offensive with hundreds of drones that targeted Russian energy and logistics infrastructure, deepening the strain on Moscow's industrial capacity

Ukraine carried out the largest drone attack on Russian territory since the beginning of the large-scale invasion, in an operation that struck Russia's energy and strategic logistics infrastructure. The offensive included hundreds of unmanned aircraft and caused a fire at one of the country's main refineries, in addition to affecting other targets deemed key to the Kremlin's war effort.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defenses shot down 605 Ukrainian drones across 18 regions, as well as the Crimean peninsula and areas of the Black and Azov Seas, an unprecedented figure since the conflict began.

One of the main targets was the Yaroslavl region, where Governor Mikhail Yevraev stated that local defenses neutralized 88 drones.

While Russian authorities maintained that there were no fatalities or injuries and avoided confirming damage to strategic facilities, independent media released images showing a significant fire at the Slavneft-YANOS refinery, one of the five largest in Russia with a capacity to process around 15 million tons of oil per year.

The independent Russian outlet Astra published videos of large columns of smoke that, it indicated, came from the oil complex. Ukrainian channels also shared images of the fire.

The plant had already been attacked repeatedly during 2026, reflecting Ukraine's strategy of gradually degrading Russian energy infrastructure.

The Russian logistics network was also attacked

In parallel, Ukraine attacked the logistics center of Wildberries, Russia's largest e-commerce platform, often compared to Amazon.

The target is located in the Tver region, less than 200 kilometers from Moscow. According to local authorities, air defense managed to shoot down the drone before direct impact, although the debris caused minor damage to the building.

In recent weeks, Ukraine has increased attacks on Wildberries' logistics infrastructure. Various reports claim that more than twenty distribution centers have already been destroyed, affecting approximately one-fifth of the company's operational capacity.

Ukraine intensifies pressure on the Russian rear

The offensive represents a new leap in Ukraine's long-range attack capability developed during the war.

Unlike the early years of the conflict, when operations were mainly concentrated on the front, Kyiv has significantly increased attacks on refineries, fuel depots, logistics centers, military bases, and airfields located hundreds of kilometers from the border.

This strategy aims to reduce Russia's industrial and military capacity, force Moscow to allocate more resources to air defense, and complicate the supply of its forces deployed in Ukraine.

With this record attack, Ukraine once again demonstrates that it has the capability to strike strategic targets deep within Russian territory, increasing pressure on the Kremlin as the war continues with no signs of a near resolution.
