The measure, promoted by Vox's parliamentary group, seeks to audit taxpayers' money allocated to the maintenance, healthcare, and accommodation of illegal immigrants, an expense that until now had remained opaque on the part of Pedro Sánchez's government.
Vox imposes its transparency agenda
With this vote, Parliament formally tasks the Court of Auditors with a comprehensive audit of migration spending, something no previous government has promoted.
Vox celebrated the decision on its X account (@Vox_Congreso): "Spaniards will finally know what PSOE and PP have been trying to hide for years." The initiative reinforces the party's narrative of putting an end to waste and demanding fiscal responsibility, central principles of the program Abascal defends.

During their intervention, Vox representatives emphasized that irregular immigration not only creates a security and border problem but also an enormous cost paid by Spanish workers through their taxes.
PP's support puts pressure on the socialist government
Partido Popular voted in favor of the proposal, accompanying the message that public spending must be transparent and efficient.
Although the populares tried to maintain an institutional tone, their support represented recognition of Vox's leadership in Congress. With this circumstantial alliance, the opposition forces the Executive to be accountable to the Court of Auditors regarding the use of funds.

The socialist bloc, meanwhile, voted against the measure, highlighting the political division regarding migration management and the lack of budgetary control.
A historic step for accountability
With parliamentary approval, the Court of Auditors must now carry out a thorough audit of the money allocated to irregular immigration and issue a public report on its use and effectiveness. This is a historic advance in public spending control, promoted by Vox, which reinforces its role as a benchmark for transparency and the defense of taxpayers.
Santiago Abascal celebrated the result and reaffirmed that his party will continue to promote measures to end waste and recover the state's fiscal and border sovereignty.
The decision marks a turning point in the debate on immigration in Spain, positioning Vox as the only party that has managed to transform a citizen complaint into concrete institutional action.
