Against the clock and before the special quota due to Rodrigo Battaglia's injury expires, Boca reached an agreement with Fortaleza and Adam Bareiro is one step away from becoming a new Xeneize signing. The Brazilian club accepted an offer close to 3 million dollarsfor the full transfer and the forward will arrive in the country to undergo a medical examination and sign his contract.
The deal was unlocked in the last few hours, after intense negotiations led by Juan Román Riquelme. Initially, Fortaleza wanted 2 million dollars for 50% of his rights, but from La Ribera they stood firm in their proposal and managed to acquire 100% of the economic rights. It should be clarified that, from the agreed amount, half will go to River, which shares the player's ownership although it doesn't hold his registration rights and didn't take part in the negotiation.
River se quedará con la mitad del pago de Boca por Bareiro
Bareiro, 29 years old and with a past at San Lorenzo, will sign a deal for three seasons with an option to extend it for one more year. The Paraguayan himself pushed hard to make his move happen and even made a public hint after a goal with Fortaleza, celebrating with the classic Topo Gigio in allusion to Riquelme.
The context was decisive, since although the transfer window in Argentina has already closed, Battaglia's injury allowed Boca to access an extraordinary window to sign a player. The deadline expires this Friday, February 20, so the club sped up efforts to finalize the paperwork and make the signing official.
With this move, Bareiro will join the list of players who have worn both River and Boca jerseys, a list that will now have 103 different names.
