Amid a string of injuries that complicated the start of the season, Boca confirmed that Milton Giménez was successfully operated on for the groin injury that has kept him off the field since the beginning of the year. The forward will be out of competition for between one and two months while he completes his recovery.
"The player Milton Giménez underwent successful surgery for a groin injury, performed by Dr. Osvaldo Santilli (abdominal wall specialist)", the club reported through an official medical statement. After the surgery, the striker was discharged to continue the process at home and begin the rehabilitation stage.

The 28-year-old footballer has not played since the Torneo Clausura semifinal against Racing, on December 7, 2024. He carried the discomfort throughout the preseason and, given the lack of response to conventional treatment, the club opted for surgery as the definitive solution.
If the timetable is met, Giménez could return in mid-April, a key stretch of the calendar for the team coached by Claudio Úbeda. During that period, Boca will face decisive fixtures in the Torneo Apertura, the Copa Libertadores, and the Copa Argentina, including the Superclásico against River at the Monumental, scheduled for matchday 15 of the championship.
The absence will force the coaching staff to reorganize the attack. In recent weeks, the coach has recovered Edinson Cavani and Miguel Merentiel, who have already logged minutes after overcoming their respective injuries. In addition, he has Ángel Romero as a reinforcement and alternatives such as Lucas Janson and Iker Zufiaurre to cover the front line.
Giménez podría reaparecer para el Superclásico
In total, Giménez would miss at least a dozen matches across all competitions. Boca will have to face that stretch without one of its usual attacking substitutes, while it waits for the forward to return in full physical condition for the most demanding part of the semester.
