Instituto, Belgrano, and Estudiantes de Río Cuarto backed AFA's measure to suspend matchday 9 of the Apertura tournament in support of president Claudio Tapia and treasurer Pablo Toviggino, who are being investigated for various irregularities in the management of the institution's money.
The economic pressure that AFA exerts on the clubs so that they support all its measures is well known.
There is no need to even mention the refereeing that is assigned in order to harm the clubs that do not align themselves with what is dictated on Viamonte Street.

Talleres, the club chaired by Andrés Fassi, enjoys excellent financial and economic health, and is the only one that shows independence in the face of this type of issue.
"T" did not say anything and remained far from any support for the executives who are being investigated for not paying taxes and for the destination of hundreds of millions of dollars that were never credited to AFA's accounts from National Team contracts.
Instituto, with explicit support from its players for AFA
However, Instituto was the only club from the province of Córdoba that expressed support through its players, who took the field for the match against San Lorenzo wearing a themed jersey.
The closeness between the president of the Alta Córdoba club, Juan Cavagliatto, and the AFA strongman is well known.

For that reason, after the announcement of the strike on matchday 9 of the Apertura tournament, Instituto was one of the clubs that issued a statement in favor of the executives under investigation by the courts.
"The Board of Directors informs its male and female members that the Club adheres to the measure adopted unanimously by the clubs that make up the Executive Committee of the Argentine Football Association, consisting of the suspension of official Argentine football activities on March 5, 6, 7, and 8 of this year", it states in its statement.
"This decision is due to the deep concern caused by the sustained judicial and media advance against the governing institution of Argentine football, its president, and its treasurer in a context that shows a clear political intentionality and a worrying escalation of institutional conflict", it adds.
Belgrano's stance regarding AFA's strike
Belgrano, chaired by Luis Fabián Artime, also joined the support.
"Club Atlético Belgrano informs its members and the general public that it supports the strike ordered for March 5 to 8", the statement said.
"This decision, taken unanimously by the clubs that make up the Professional League, responds to a scenario of repeated political, judicial, and media pressure that attempts to condition the normal functioning of the Argentine Football Association and the clubs that belong to it", it added.
One of the cases being investigated against AFA and its executives is tax evasion.
The investigation originated from a complaint by the Revenue and Customs Control Agency (ARCA), which accuses AFA of having acted as a withholding and collection agent for national taxes and social security resources without depositing the corresponding amounts within the legal period of 30 days after the due date.
According to the filing, the periods under analysis cover from March 2024 to September 2025 and include withholdings for VAT, income tax, and social security contributions.
In that period, the sum of obligations not paid on time would reach $7,593,903,512.23. Subsequently, the agency expanded the complaint and added another $11,759,643,331.62, so the total under investigation exceeds $19.3 billion.
