After CONMEBOL's ruling, Independiente seeks to lift the closure of its stadium
Prosecutor Zitto warned that the Libertadores de América will remain closed until the club meets certain requirements
Uncertainty persists at Independiente after the serious incidents that occurred during the match against Universidad de Chile. Following the final ruling by CONMEBOL, the board's priority now is to achieve the reopening of Estadio Libertadores de América, which was closed by judicial order.
Prosecutor Mariano Zitto, who is in charge of the investigation into the disturbances in Avellaneda, was clear in explaining the conditions: "Until APreViDe, the club, AFA, and, if possible, CONMEBOL reach an agreement, the stadium will remain closed." According to the official, Independiente must present a comprehensive security plan that guarantees there will be no recurrence of violent incidents.

In a conversation with Rojos de Pasión, Zitto detailed that there have been developments in recent days: "Independiente, APreViDe and the Ministry of Security met and this week there was a counterproposal to improve security, which states how they will act in the event of a similar scenario. This week, they are expected to have another meeting where they could solve these organizational differences."
The prosecutor also questioned the lack of coordination in the match's security operation, pointing out that the monitoring cameras showed a "total lack of coordination between public and private security," which resulted in a "post-war scene" in the visiting stands.
The closure has already forced Independiente to postpone its home match against Platense. Now, with the match against Banfield on the horizon for the eighth round of the Torneo Clausura, the board will have to work against the clock to meet Zitto's requirements and secure the reopening of the stadium.
