América de Cali complicates Juanfer Quintero's return to River
The Colombian team is asking for between 2 and 2.5 million dollars to release the midfielder, even though the player had said he would leave as a free agent due to unpaid wages
When everything seemed like River and Juan Fernando Quintero were going to reunite without any issues, a change in América de Cali's position created doubts in the negotiation. Now, the Colombian club is demanding money to release him.
For the midfielder's third spell at the Millonario to happen, the player stated that he would arrive as a free agent because he would leave due to a six-month debt. He also revealed that he hasn't received his salary since he arrived.
However, América de Cali claims that they're up to date with the Colombian and are requesting financial compensation to let him go, stating that they're demanding between 2 and 2.5 million dollars.

River's position is firm: the doors are open and the contract offer still stands, but Quintero must solve his departure from the Colombian club. The Núñez club won't pay again for his transfer, although his arrival isn't at risk.
How the foreign player quota stands
After the sale of Adam Bareiro to Fortaleza, River has five out of six foreign player slots allowed by the AFA. That vacant spot is reserved for Lucas Cepeda, for whom they're still negotiating with Colo-Colo.
Another slot could be freed if São Paulo completes the loan signing of Gonzalo Tapia, or if Matías Rojas decides to terminate his contract before December.

When River debuts in the Clausura
After its participation in the Club World Cup and in the middle of preseason, the Millonario is already preparing for its debut in the Torneo Clausura. This Sunday, July 13, the team led by Marcelo Gallardo will face the reigning champion of Argentine soccer: Platense. The match will be held at Más Monumental starting at 21 and will be refereed by Rey Hilfer.
