The extra-long weekend for National Sovereignty Day delivered exceptional numbers for Argentine tourism. With 1.6 million people traveling across the country, the figures set a new historical record, according to data released by CAME and the Argentine Chamber of Tourism.
The economic impact exceeded $355,789 million, driven by high hotel occupancy and massive attendance in destinations along the Atlantic Coast, the Andes, the Littoral, and Patagonia.

A historic weekend for Argentine tourism
According to CAME, this long weekend spurred a 21% increase in the number of travelers compared to the same holiday last year. Although individual spending was more cautious, the massive movement benefited SMEs, businesses, hotels, and gastronomy throughout the country.
Regional economies also experienced significant relief thanks to high demand, especially in areas with marked seasonality.
Atlantic Coast: near-full occupancy and record figures
The main highlight was the Buenos Aires Atlantic Coast, where several destinations nearly reached full capacity:
Mar del Plata: more than 158,000 tourists, the best figure in 15 years.
Pinamar: 94% occupancy.
Cariló: 98%.
Mar de las Pampas: 99%.
Mar Azul: 90%.
Tandil: full occupancy.

Andes, Cuyo, Littoral, and North: nationwide movement
Movement was also very high far from the sea:
Córdoba: 90% occupancy and more than 320,000 visitors.
Mendoza: 82%.
San Luis: Villa de la Quebrada (95%) and Villa Merlo (80%).
Puerto Iguazú: over 90%, with a strong influx of Brazilian tourists.
Entre Ríos: 90%.
Corrientes: 75%.
Salta and Jujuy: over 70%.
Termas de Río Hondo: over 90%.
Patagonia: nature, adventure, and sustained occupancy
Patagonia also experienced a very active weekend. Neuquén averaged 80% occupancy, while Bariloche, El Calafate, and El Chaltén saw notable tourist activity.

Milei highlighted the positive impact
President Javier Milei celebrated the record numbers of the long weekend, highlighting hotel occupancy and commercial activity. He reposted messages from the mayor of General Pueyrredón, Guillermo Montenegro, and the Secretary of Environment, Tourism, and Sports, Daniel Scioli.
Milei also shared posts from the Undersecretary of Press, Javier Lanari, who emphasized that this XXL weekend was "the most successful in its history."
