Brazil is once again one of the most popular international destinations for Argentinians and summer 2026 promises to deepen that trend. Beaches, tourist cities, and shopping centers in the neighboring country are already receiving thousands of travelers attracted by the exchange rate and an increasingly broad range of options.
In that context, one of the decisions before traveling is not only about lodging or transportation, but about how to pay in Brazil. Choosing between cash, cards, or digital wallets can make a concrete difference in the budget.

Brazil, increasingly chosen by Argentinians
According to data from Embratur, between January and November 2025 Brazil received 8.3 million tourists and would close the year with more than 9 million. Argentina remained the main sending country, with 3.1 million travelers, an 82.1% year-on-year increase.
With that growing flow, the debate about the payment method is gaining prominence among those who seek to optimize expenses during vacations.
Digital wallets: the option that is gaining ground
Brazil has made strong progress in the digitalization of payments with Pix, the instant transfer system promoted by the Brazilian Central Bank. Today it is accepted in large and small businesses and has become a standard.

For tourists, paying with digital wallets has clear advantages: it debits directly in reais, avoids surcharges due to taxes, and improves security by not exposing card data. The main drawback is depending on the internet, although in tourist areas connectivity is high.
"The possibility of operating with digital methods simplifies the day-to-day life of the Argentinian traveler", explained Sebastián Díaz de Valdés, Country Manager Argentina at Global66.
