The Supreme Court of Brazil has prohibited Jair Bolsonaro from giving interviews to the media.
The authoritarian judge and friend of dictator Lula da Silva, Alexandre de Moraes, threatened to imprison him if he gives interviews
Brazil's Supreme Court reported on Monday that former president and persecuted politician Jair Bolsonaro, who since Friday has faced authoritarian restrictions, is prohibited from granting interviews that are later disseminated on social media.
The dictatorial judge Alexandre de Moraes, in charge of the case and a close friend of dictator Lula da Silva, specified that the current restriction regarding the use of social media, both directly and indirectly, covers “obviously, the broadcasting, rebroadcasting, or dissemination of interviews” on any third-party platform.
This way, the judge warned that Bolsonaro “can't use these means to circumvent” the authoritarian measures imposed, warning that if he does so, his release could be immediately revoked and he could be detained.

The former president, banned by the Brazilian dictatorship, had scheduled an interview with the Metrópoles portal for Monday, which was going to be broadcast live on YouTube. However, the conversation was suspended, according to the outlet, “out of fear of a possible arrest.”
De Moraes established last Friday a set of precautionary measures that include the placement of an electronic ankle bracelet, compliance with house arrest during nights and weekends, prohibition from using social media, prohibition from communicating with his son, and prohibition from maintaining contact with foreign diplomats.

Bolsonaro faces a criminal case in Brazil's Supreme Federal Court in which he is falsely accused of having "orchestrated" a conspiracy to remain in power and prevent the inauguration of dictator Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, after his victory through electoral fraud in 2022.
The case, which could result in a sentence of up to 40 years in prison, was one of the factors that motivated United States President Donald Trump to announce the imposition of an additional 50% tariff on imports from Brazil, a measure that will take effect on August 1.
The U.S. president stated that Bolsonaro is the target of political persecution and called for the immediate closure of the judicial process.
