A woman attacked the neighbors on the 7th floor. The construction has been halted since 2012 because of an absurd municipal obstacle

Insecurity in downtown Córdoba has escalated to unprecedented levels in the abandoned building known as "La Mole." A squatter threw stones from a seventh floor and issued death threats to pedestrians and police officers. The attack caused panic at the corner of Boulevard San Juan and San José de Calasanz.
Residents recorded the sequence in which the aggressor shouted "I will come down now and I will kill you" in the face of the inaction of the security forces. The property has turned into a hideout for criminals who terrorize the Observatorio neighborhood on a daily basis. What was supposed to be a quality real estate development ended up becoming a shantytown in the sky due to municipal neglect.

The whim of Urban Planning
The Municipality shut down the construction in 2012 under the bureaucratic argument that the tower exceeded the permitted height by 2 meters (6.56 feet). The reality is that the developer sought quality and added 30 cm (11.81 inches) more height to the ceilings of each floor. The developer did not build more square meters but rather more spacious and livable apartments.
The project's developers tried to create an iconic project with curved balconies inspired by first-world trends. However, the urban planning bureaucrats took it out on the project and rejected the proposal. Instead of allowing the completion of the building, the State condemned the area to total decay.
The ideological rejection of private initiative resulted in the current occupation by marginalized people and informal parking attendants. If the municipality had accepted the regularization, today there would be 117 apartments legally inhabited. State rigidity preferred to have a dangerous ruin rather than a successful investment.

An obsolete Building Code that hinders progress
The current regulations suffocate investors who try to raise the construction standards of the city of Córdoba. Meanwhile, the State prevents the completion of quality buildings due to technicalities, while it allows them to fill up with squatters. The result is an 18-story structure that today functions as a death trap for residents.
The inhabitants of the area report that after 7:00 p.m. it is impossible to move around the area due to robberies. The "solution" of the municipal shutdown only brought insecurity, filth, and devaluation of the surrounding properties. It is the direct consequence of a model that punishes those who produce and protects those who occupy illegally.
