In Córdoba, a new project is being launched to expand areas free of illegal parking attendants, following the positive experience in Parque Sarmiento. The proposal seeks to extend the measure to high-traffic corridors where residents and business owners suffer from extortion and disorder. The objective is to move toward a safer city, without improper charges in public spaces that belong to everyone.

The plan includes freeing sections of avenues where the pressure from these informal mafias affects daily life and economic activity. According to statements from the Council, these measures are not intended to provoke confrontation, but rather to organize coexistence and restore peace of mind to citizens. "Daily life improves with clear rules and a present State," was expressed during the presentation.

The case of Parque Sarmiento demonstrated that it is possible to eradicate abusive practices that affected thousands of people in their use of public space. There, illegal charges were eliminated and residents regained the freedom to park without threats or demands for payment. Now, the expectation is to replicate that model in new areas of the provincial capital.

More control to recover and prevent extortion practices

Council members emphasize that the problem of illegal parking attendants is not limited to a single sector of the city, but is repeated in different neighborhoods of the capital. For this reason, the program will be implemented progressively, addressing the demands of residents who are calling for order and safety in streets, squares, and avenues. With these actions, the aim is to permanently eradicate an extortion practice that took advantage of the lack of control with municipal approval.

The initiative focuses on freeing key corridors, where commercial, gastronomic, and recreational activity is concentrated, and where abuses were frequent. It is stated that these measures are not only aimed at ending improper charges, but also at improving traffic and ensuring greater road safety. "This corridor can be an example of development and tranquility," members of the legislative body pointed out.

The progress of these policies marks an important step toward reclaiming public space as a free and safe environment for all citizens. The ban on illegal parking charges reinforces the idea that public roads can't be the private business of organized mafias. If the initiative succeeds, Córdoba could become a model of urban management in this area.
