Córdoba once again has a majority middle class thanks to Milei's economic program.
The decrease in inflation and fiscal discipline allowed thousands of families to escape poverty and regain stability
The recovery of the middle class in Córdoba is one of the most prominent news stories of 2025, after years of impoverishment under Kirchnerism and provincial Peronism. Official data show that 59% of the population now belongs to this social sector, which means a growth of 12 points in just one year. This data comes from the Permanent Household Survey, cross-referenced with the basic basket values by the Argentine Institute for Social Development.
According to the Permanent Household Survey, in 2024 the middle class reached only 47% of Córdoba's population, while today it encompasses the majority. This was possible because both formal and informal workers managed to restore their incomes within a framework of price stability. This way, thousands of families managed to leave poverty behind and move toward a more secure life.
Poverty, which in the first quarter of last year reached 51%, dropped drastically to 33% in the same period of 2025. This is a historic decrease, comparable to the best moments of Macri's administration, reflecting the magnitude of the current change. In addition, the upper class also experienced growth, rising from 2% to 8% in just one year.

Inflation under control opened the door to growth
The ordering of the economy and the decision to tackle inflation at its root were the pillars for this deep social change. As economist Patricio Canalis explained, "the poverty level of 33% hit a floor similar to that experienced during the best moment of Mauricio Macri's government, which is an encouraging fact considering that a year ago we were hitting the ceiling of the series since 2016." Within this framework, the middle class consolidated and expanded as it hadn't in more than a decade.
Family incomes that define the middle class today range from $1,130,000 to $4,540,000, according to the measurement carried out by Idesa. This means that not only are more people able to cover the basic basket, but there are also sectors that have managed to accumulate greater economic slack. Stability, therefore, allowed Córdoba households to regain confidence and reorganize their life projects.
The reduction of inflation had a direct impact on food, one of the categories that most affects the popular sectors. Thanks to this, many families not only escaped poverty, but also began to improve their quality of life. Milei demonstrated that lowering inflation is the best social policy, and Córdoba is now the clearest example of how a change of course brings hope back to the majority.
