The governor of Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejo, joined the voices from the ruling party that celebrated the international capture of Nicolás Maduro after the operation led by the United States. His message, shared on X, showed a direct political alignment with the Casa Rosada and with President Javier Milei's stance regarding the collapse of the Chavista regime.
"We celebrate a free Venezuela. A big greeting to all Venezuelans who live in Argentina, and especially to those from our beloved Mendoza", stated Cornejo in his post. The reaction came a few hours after Donald Trump confirmed that the U.S. military operation was successfully carried out and that the Venezuelan dictator was removed from his country along with his wife.

Vice Governor Hebe Casado also expressed her support, sharing a photograph wearing a cap with the message "Make America Great Again", a symbol of Trump's leadership and of the new geopolitical stage that Washington is promoting in the face of authoritarian regimes in the region.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of U.S. intervention to put an end to years of abuses, political persecution, and the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. In their messages, they highlighted that the fall of Chavismo opens a historic opportunity for millions of Venezuelans who had to leave their country, including the thousands who reside in the province of Mendoza.
Milei celebrated the operation and reinforced his international position
In Argentina, the response from the ruling party was immediate. Javier Milei, consistent with his firm stance against authoritarian regimes, wrote on his social media:"Freedom advances. Long live freedom, damn it." His message reaffirms the strategic alliance with the United States and the view that the region must move toward republican and free-market models.
Security Minister Patricia Bullrich also pointed to the importance of the historic change and stated:"Venezuela will be free." From the Executive Branch, officials maintain that this operation shows that the international community is no longer willing to tolerate dictatorships that violate human rights and repress the opposition.
A change of era for Latin America
For leaders of the national government, Maduro's arrest is a turning point that confirms the decline of the authoritarian axis in Latin America. The fall of the Chavista leader not only reflects the exhaustion of a repressive and impoverishing model, but also the consolidation of a new stage in which the United States and aligned governments such as Milei's seek to rebuild democratic order in the region.
Cornejo and Casado's support is part of this broader process, in which Argentina is once again positioning itself on the side of Western democracies and reaffirming its commitment to freedom, security, and the defense of republican values.
