An act of extreme violence struck Sergio Lapegüe and his family head-on. His mother Elba's home, located in Banfield, was the scene of a brutal robbery carried out by four criminals who forced their way in while the 90-year-old woman with Alzheimer's was accompanied by two caregivers.
Lapegüe himself was the one who made what happened known through a video recorded minutes after the attack, where he showed the state in which the house was left after the thieves went through it.
The images show rooms completely ransacked, damaged furniture, and personal belongings scattered across the floor, reflecting the level of violence with which the assailants acted.
Visibly affected, the host expressed his outrage and pain as he described the scene he found. According to what he later recounted in a conversation with América Noticias (eltrece), it was not an isolated incident but a new episode in a long series of robberies that the family has suffered over the years.

"This is my home, this is my neighborhood, I never left. We have already gone through very hard situations", he recalled, even mentioning a previous attack in which his father was seriously injured.
The most alarming aspect of the latest robbery was the treatment received by the people who were inside the home. Lapegüe said that the two caregivers were beaten and subdued with extreme violence.
One of them was strangled, while the other was locked in the bathroom, which was also destroyed. His mother remained with the second caregiver, blindfolded, in a situation of absolute vulnerability.
The journalist also revealed a chilling detail: he passed by the front of the house shortly after leaving his show, without realizing that the criminals were still inside. "I passed by by chance and I did not realize that they were inside", he said.
With deep concern, Lapegüe reflected on the climate of insecurity that people experience on a daily basis. "The ones who live in fear are the ones who do not steal. They are not afraid of anything", he stated, also questioning the impunity with which many criminals act.
