Trump is shaping the Vance-Rubio ticket as his successors in 2028
The President of the United States shared his opinion regarding the possibility of Vice President Vance leading the ticket in the upcoming elections
President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that Vice President JD Vancewould be the favorite to secure the Republican Party's presidential nomination in 2028. The statement was made during an official event at the White House, where the president signed an executive order to create a task force in preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
During the event, a journalist asked Trump if Vance would be the new face of the MAGA movement, especially after the Republican magnate confirmed he would not seek a third presidential term.
Trump replied by noting that Vance, as vice president, would naturally start from an advantageous position. However, he also mentioned Secretary of State Marco Rubio as another key figure within the Trumpist movement, suggesting that both political personalities could join forces in a future presidential ticket.

Rubio declines to run as a candidate.
Trump added that there are other prominent figures within his team, indicating that it is still early to discuss candidacies, but he acknowledged that Vance is doing "a great job" and is probably the favorite at this moment.
Marco Rubio, who competed against Trump in the 2016 Republican primaries, has become a staunch ally of the current president. Last month, Rubio publicly rejected speculation that he could be the candidate to occupy the White House in 2028.
Instead, he expressed his support for JD Vance during an interview on Lara Trump's program broadcast by Fox News. In that interview, Rubio stated that the vice president and former senator from Ohio would be a great candidate if he decided to run.

Vance positions himself as the successor.
The current Secretary of State also praised Vance's performance as second-in-command and made it clear that he is satisfied with his current role within the presidential cabinet. His public support reinforces the perception of Vance as a possible natural successor to Trump within the MAGA movement.
Such support, from both Trump and Rubio, positions the vice president as a central figure in the Republican political landscape heading into 2028. Although Trump emphasized that it is still too early to confirm candidacies, his recognition of his running mate's work and the explicit support of influential party figures like Rubio consolidate him early on.
