After the rain of the last few days in Córdoba, the weather has become favorable for rural fires.
The temperature has risen, the Zonda wind has arrived, and the chances of a fire starting have increased significantly from Tuesday to Thursday.
The Secretariat for Climate Risk Management, Catastrophe, and Civil Protection reported that from this Friday until next Sunday, August 24, the risk of fires in the province will be extreme due to the forecasted weather conditions.
La alerta por riesgo de incendios se mantendrá activa durante todo el fin de semana.
According to the agency, the heat, the drop in relative humidity levels, and strong wind gusts that could reach 60 km/h (37 mph) create a highly favorable scenario for the development and spread of fire outbreaks.
Recommendations from Córdoba authorities in the face of fire risk
In this situation, the population was advised to reinforce preventive measures, exercise extreme caution, and avoid any action that could generate fire in rural or forested areas.
The agency's spokesperson, Roberto Schreiner, reminded that "it is forbidden to light fires throughout the entire territory of Córdoba, except in authorized places, as well as any activity that could cause a forest fire."
