Trump's intervention causes crime to drop sharply in Washington, D.C.

The statistics show a reduction of up to 80% in the crimes recorded last week

Crime has already decreased drastically in Washington D.C. since President Donald Trump ordered a federal intervention in the city to make it safe again for all residents and tourists.

According to the D.C. police union—which brings together thousands of officers, detectives, and sergeants in the U.S. capital—since Trump took control a week ago, car thefts have dropped by a staggering 83%, while thefts have decreased by 46% and violent crime has fallen by 22%.

This data becomes even more significant when looking at robberies involving a deadly weapon, which have decreased by 6%. The number of property crimes has also been reduced by 21%. Overall, crime has dropped by 8%.

450 arrests since the intervention was decreed.

However, the details about Trump's cleanup of D.C. do not end there. In total, 450 arrests have been recorded and 68 firearms have been seized in the past week.

Last Monday night, authorities in the capital made a total of 52 arrests. Among those apprehended was a member of the Mara Salvatrucha gang who was living illegally in the country. The other detainees have criminal records that include murder, attempted murder, assaults, and use of firearms.

Federal forces have also peacefully addressed the homelessness that had paralyzed the capital, eliminating a total of 48 homeless encampments. These individuals experiencing homelessness were voluntarily relocated to shelters.

Democrats are bothered by Trump's fight against crime.

This Tuesday afternoon, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt highlighted Trump's achievements in his efforts to make the capital safe again. She specifically pointed out that a significant number of arrests have been concentrated in high-crime areas, where the majority of undocumented individuals with criminal backgrounds operate.

Despite this, although it is not surprising, Democrats and left-wing activists are bothered by the fact that crime is being addressed. Trump's intervention has drawn criticism from the entire opposition political spectrum, including Governors Wes Moore and Gavin Newsom, Representative Jamie Raskin, Mayor Barbara Lee, among others.

Leavitt directed her criticism at this small group within the Democratic spectrum, stating that they are "coddling violent criminals" while Trump is "focused on putting them behind bars."
