FIFA surprised everyone by announcing the development of FIFA Heroes, a video game that will mark a break with the tradition of its previous installments. After the separation from Electronic Arts in 2022 and the consolidation of EA Sports FC as the leading simulator, the organization seeks to open a new chapter with a more playful, family-oriented, and nostalgia-filled approach.
The game, scheduled for 2026, will be released on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, with the promise of bringing the passion of soccer to broader audiences.
Arcade, superpowers, and new teams
Unlike realistic simulators, FIFA Heroes will focus on five-on-five matches with an arcade style. Players will be able to use superpowers, perform spectacular moves, and combine teams made up of historic mascots, real soccer figures, and fictional characters from movies or series.

Among the confirmed protagonists are Clutch (United States' eagle), Zayu (Mexico's jaguar), and Maple (Canada's moose), official ambassadors of the 2026 World Cup. Each hero will have unique abilities that will bring dynamism and variety to the matches.
