The universe of Hollow Knight: Silksong will continue to expand. In a recent interview, Ari Gibson and William Pellen—co-founders of the Australian studio Team Cherry—confirmed that they are already working on new downloadable content. Although they admit that for now they have "vague ideas," they assured that there will be news within a "reasonable" timeframe and that this time there will not be another seven-year wait.
The decision not to set a date stems from the lessons learned during the long development periods of Silksong itself. Team Cherry seeks to avoid premature promises, maintain creative flexibility, and ensure that each expansion meets the narrative and technical standards that characterize the saga.
First hints of the new content: classic enemies, balance, and new mechanics
During the interview, the developers revealed some elements: the return of Steel Assassin Sharpe, one of the most memorable antagonists from the first game. His presence demonstrates that the studio's strategy combines fan nostalgia with new challenges to keep the experience fresh.

The announcement comes after a period of post-launch adjustments. Team Cherry worked on balancing the overall difficulty of the game, a point raised by the community, which felt that Hornet was too overpowered and that the design had been calibrated around her. Recent updates have reduced that gap and improved accessibility.
What kind of DLC could Silksong receive: large and small expansions
Team Cherry made it clear that Silksong will have DLC of different sizes, ranging from more complex expansions to minor updates. This strategy replicates what they did with Hollow Knight, allowing the content to grow organically and sustainably.
