'I'm going after Luis Ventura's position': Pilar Smith challenged the power at APTRA
The journalist confirmed her candidacy during a heated exchange with Luis Ventura while he was on the air
Pilar Smith shook the entertainment world by announcing that she wants to lead APTRA, the Association of Journalists of Argentine Television and Radio Broadcasting. She did so confidently, without hesitation, in an interview she gave to Desayuno Americano (América TV), where she confirmed that she will run in the upcoming elections.
"I'm going for Ventura's position," Smith stated directly, making it clear that this is not an improvised move, but rather a well-thought-out and organized strategy. She even revealed that she is already working on assembling a list that could include an unexpected figure: Facundo Ventura, son of the current president.
An internal conflict that erupted live
The tense moment occurred on air, while Luis Ventura was participating in the program A la tarde (América TV). Karina Mazzocco presented the situation with a sharp tone and gave the floor to Pilar Smith, who did not avoid the topic.

"Luis was the best thing that ever happened to APTRA, his administration is impeccable," Smith clarified at first, although she quickly emphasized that her intention is to look toward the future. "I agree that he can't stay forever. I feel qualified to lead and I want the polls to speak."
Luis Ventura, far from avoiding the confrontation, replied with irony: "She doesn't just want the shoe, she wants the chair," He recalled that when he took office as president, the institution was on the verge of collapse, and some even wanted to sell the historic headquarters.
Throughout the conversation, Ventura defended his administration: "I only ran in one election; in the others, no one else ran, that's why I continued." He also targeted Smith for her meetings with Carlos Monti and Marcelo Polino, insinuating political maneuvers: "Always whispering..."

Smith did not back down. She confirmed that Monti offered her support for her candidacy, highlighting his previous experience in APTRA. "I need people who know the structure. He offered me help and I'm going for it."
Pilar, firm: "I'm going to run"
During the exchange, Pilar Smith reiterated several times that she will submit her candidacy, emphasizing that her goal is not to create conflict but to drive improvements. "It's not about fighting, but about improving APTRA. It's the entity that brings us together and organizes important events for entertainment journalists."
When asked about her first measure if elected, she was direct: "To call on new journalists, who truly are journalists. Sometimes people are called who do not practice."
The live confrontation had moments of tension, but also of political clarity. Luis Ventura, with a defiant tone, invited Smith to attend the Saturday communication courses to "learn how to run an entity."
Amid irony, winks, and promises, the only certainty is that the upcoming elections in APTRA will not be a mere formality. The internal conflict is heated, and the battle for the presidential chair promises even more intense chapters.
