Fear once again took hold in Ituzaingó, one of the districts hardest hit by crimein the Buenos Aires metropolitan area. A group of criminals entered a central building with a clear robbery plan.
The situation caused panic among residents, who took refuge in their apartments while they alerted the police.
How did the attempted robbery at the Ruze building in Ituzaingó take place?
According to the account given by the residents themselves, which LDD was able to access, two criminals entered the building with backpacks that were specially prepared to force entry points. Outside, three other people (two women with children) acted as lookouts, simulating an everyday situation so as not to arouse suspicion.
El impactante momento en que los delincuentes intentaban forzar una ventana.
The incident took place at 9 at night on January 8 at the Ruze building, right in the center of the Ituzaingó district. The thieves tried to enter a ground-floor apartment that has windows facing the pool. It was then that the resident of this unit heard noises, saw the criminals, locked herself in the bathroom, and called for help.
This was not casual prowling. Everything indicates that it was a planned robbery by a commando-style group, with defined roles and specific tools to move forward apartment by apartment.
What was found in the backpacks
When the police arrived at the building, the thieves were seeking refuge in the hallways of the building, trying to enter some apartment. They first claimed to be tenants of a unit on the 3rd floor, although they later changed their story and claimed to be guests staying on the 2nd floor.
¿Cómo fue el intento de robo en el edificio?
When the police managed to intercept the suspects, they checked the contents of the backpacks. There it was confirmed what the residents feared: keys of different types, crowbars, screwdrivers, and multiple tools compatible with robberies in buildings. The presence of that equipment made it clear that the objective was to loot the entire building and that the entry was not improvised.
The residents' reaction and the police intervention
For several minutes, confusion reigned. The criminals were not handcuffed and the residents doubted whether they would actually be arrested. Finally, after verifying identities and checking the backpacks, the police handcuffed them and took them away.

Later, several victims went to the police station to file a report and coordinate urgent security measures.
The episode exposes, once again, the failure and absence of security policies by the government of Axel Kicillof, which has accumulated violent incidents in the province of Buenos Aires. The majority of them have gone unanswered.
