The so-called Insurance Case added a new chapter this Tuesday that makes former president Alberto Fernández's inner circle even more complicated. Federal Judge Sebastián Casanello decided to indict Héctor Martínez Sosa's company, the broker identified as a personal friend of the former head of state, for his alleged necessary participation in the crime of negotiations incompatible with public office.
In addition to the indictment, the magistrate ordered the seizure of the company's assets and funds, in a decision that marks a significant step forward in the case, since until now the focus had been placed mainly on the individual responsibilities of those involved.
Martínez Sosa's role and the alleged steering
The judicial investigation focuses on the procurement of insurance for various public agencies during the Frente de Todos administration, under the suspicion that there was deliberate steering of contracts in favor of a business group close to political power.
Within that framework, Héctor Martínez Sosa emerges as a key figure. According to the case file, his company allegedly played a decisive role as a beneficiary of the intermediation system, with political backing from the top of the Executive Branch. Both Martínez Sosa and Alberto Fernández himself have already been indicted in this part of the case.
