The former Córdoba governor will take his seat this Thursday after recovering from surgery and will not collect his legislative salary

The former governor of Córdoba, Juan Schiaretti, is preparing to formalize his entry into the National Chamber of Deputies on Thursday. His inauguration marks the formal return to high-profile political activity after he successfully completed a delicate surgical recovery process. The leader will seek to represent the interests of the province with a supposedly federal, model-centered perspective.
Through his social media accounts, the Córdoba leader announced that he will permanently resign from receiving his salary and representation expenses. His personal income will come exclusively from his ordinary national retirement and from the income caused by his current professional activity. This decision seeks to send a message of austerity at a time when society is demanding clear signs of commitment from the political class.
Schiaretti's return comes after he underwent surgery on November 28 to replace his aortic valve in the city of Buenos Aires. That scheduled procedure at the prestigious Favaloro Foundation was necessary to guarantee his physical well-being before resuming his duties. Once the medical rehabilitation periods were completed, the legislator was in a position to take part in the extraordinary sessions convened by President Milei.

An ideologically heterogeneous bloc with very lukewarm positions
Schiaretti will join the Provincias Unidas inter-bloc, a space that is characterized by an alarming lack of clearly defined ideological identity. This political group operates as a heterogeneous hodgepodge where even socialist sectors coexist without a clear direction or coherent doctrine. The ambiguity of its members raises doubts about the soundness of the proposals that this new parliamentary actor will try to impose in the chamber.
It is perceived that the real objective of this force is to act as a "referee" in order to permanently constrain the reforms promoted by the national government. Under the pretext of federalism, these leaders seem to seek only to hinder Milei's administration in order to obtain short-term benefits. The hesitant stance of its members weakens the construction of stable majorities that would allow the country to move toward a deep transformation.
Schiaretti's arrival takes place amid debates over the Juvenile Criminal Law, an issue that will require high-impact political decisions. However, the debut in the Chamber of Deputies resulted in his bloc's general abstention during its first vote as part of that body. The current legislative scenario will force this inter-bloc to demonstrate whether it truly has proposals or whether it will only act out of electoral convenience.
