Julio Lopardo assumes the interim presidency of San Lorenzo due to the Moretti case.
After the Board of Directors meeting, the club's vice president, who will be in charge, requested Moretti's dismissal and stated that he won't bring the elections forward
After the board of directors approved the leave request ofMarcelo Moretti, who is involved in a bribery scandal, Julio Lopardowas appointed as interim president.
In statements from the Pedro Bidegain stadium, he directly targeted the outgoing president and made his position clear. "Moretti has to resign," he stated, adding that he doesn't consider the possibility of bringing the elections forward.

The new leader of the Ciclón didn't hide his discomfort with the context that led him to the position. "A very strange, sad day, with a somewhat confusing feeling. Living this at the club makes me very sad, because I've experienced much better times," he began by saying.
Then, he spoke about the institutional chaos that has plagued the club in recent weeks. "At least, we ended a 15-day period that was tremendous because everything came together: the president didn't resign, the first vice president resigned, and that hinders all management, and I, who entered as the seventh-term board member, ended up in this position. Things that the president would have facilitated if he had resigned from the start," he described.

Lopardo also explained why he believes Moretti should step aside for good: "Moretti has to resign because he has the worst condemnation, which is social. This club doesn't forgive you, and thinking he can return after what happened would be madness, and not resigning is causing even more harm. As a government, we have to follow the paths of the statute and take care of the club."
He reinforced the idea of moving forward without the current president: "We have to follow the paths that the statute sets for us. Let him solve his problems, we'll take care of the club." "It was a very hard blow for everyone," he insisted, and again rejected the possibility of Moretti returning: "Thinking that he doesn't want to resign to try to come back is total madness."

Lopardo doesn't want to bring the elections forward and the conversation with Chiqui Tapia
Regarding the political future of San Lorenzo, he was blunt: "The elections will be when they are due." The stance contrasts with the demands of various fan sectors that call for early elections.

Lopardo assured that he will try to manage with commitment and experience: "I told the board of directors and the opposition that I will try to execute everything I can know over time and experience, I hope it's enough," he expressed.
He also emphasized that his goal is to leave the institution in better condition. "The club's situation is very difficult, and I will face it with the hope of navigating this time, which I believe will be until the next elections because there are things that can't be undone that have happened, and it would be wonderful for me to hand over a club better than it is now and for a new government to come so that once and for all a proper management can be concluded."
Meanwhile, he commented on the dialogue he had with Claudio Tapia, president of the AFA, who showed concern about the state of the club. "We talked about San Lorenzo, he was very concerned about the club's situation. We said we would wait until today. I will communicate to work hand in hand with the AFA."

With the management already underway, Lopardo closed with a message of institutional reconstruction: "We have a lot to do. Some things have been advanced. We need to register signatures, start this new stage. I have the team that was there day by day." And he concluded: "We will try to change the club, to see if we are more normal."
