After the unexpected resignation of Favio Orsi and Sergio Gómez, Platense acted quickly and already has a new head coach. Cristian Kily González will be the one to take the reins of the champion team of Argentine soccer, at a historic moment for the Vicente López club.

The news was confirmed after reaching a verbal agreement with the board led by Sebastián Ordóñez, and the official announcement will be made this Tuesday. The contract with the former Unión de Santa Fe coach will run until December 2026, with the main goal of facing the 2026 Copa Libertadores, a tournament Platense qualified for for the first time in its history after defeating Huracán in the final.
Before deciding on Kily, the board had considered other names, including Martín Palermo, who led Calamar to the 2023 final. However, the decision favored the former Rosario Central and Unión coach, who arrives at his third club as head coach.
In this new stage, González's coaching staff will be made up of Ricardo De Alberto and Daniel Fagiani as assistant coaches, Damián Hernández and Diego Rouse in physical preparation, and Milton Rodríguez as video analyst.
