Marcelo Moretti halts his return to San Lorenzo but insists that he is not going to resign.
The president on leave postponed his return after the fans' protest, while the Board of Directors remains divided over his imminent comeback
Marcelo Moretti, president of San Lorenzo on leave, intended to resume his duties this week. However, given the turbulent internal climate and after speaking with board members on Friday, the day when fans marched to demand his resignation, he decided to postpone his return, so Julio Lopardo will remain in office.

Moretti had stepped aside after the complaint of alleged bribery linked to a youth team player. His return would not only mean that his signing authority would be restored, impacting banks, contracts, and management, but also, he would need approval from the Board of Directors.
As of today, the leader of Ciclón would not have the necessary votes, although he keeps that he doesn't need them. Some articles of the bylaws could support him, but there is a key point: any board member can request a vote for his removal at the first meeting with him present, something he prefers to avoid.

In statements to Mundo Azulgrana, the executive insisted: "the courts will prove me right," referring to the videos where he appears receiving money from a youth player's mother. He explained that this money is recorded as "loans of money contributed for 180,000 dollars" and that "they have their respective traceability in the club's financial records."
Despite the tensions, he emphasized that he doesn't intend to resign and that his return doesn't depend on the approval of the rest of the Board of Directors: "I was elected by the people, and if they do not want to work with me, there are alternate board members."
With the case elevated to the judiciary, Moretti reaffirmed his intention to continue with the construction project on Avenida La Plata, stated that he will provide funds to strengthen the squad, and announced that he will meet with coach Damián Ayude to plan the team for the second half of 2025.
