Controversy: Marcelo Moretti returns to San Lorenzo amid the bribery scandal
The president of Ciclón will resume his duties after a two-month leave. He is currently indicted and will not appear for questioning in a corruption case
After two months on leave, Marcelo Moretti confirmed his return to the presidency of San Lorenzo, despite being charged with alleged bribery. In statements to the media outlet Mundo Azulgrana, the executive assured that he will return next week "because the courts will prove me right", in relation to the videos showing him receiving money from the mother of a youth player at the club.
"It has been verified by the audit committee, even by the opposition within it, that I have mutual loans of money contributed for 180,000 dollars," he stated. He also defended the legality of the transactions by saying they have "financial traceability".
Far from resigning, Moretti stated that his return doesn't require approval from the Board of Directors: "I was elected by the people. If they don't want to work with me, there are alternate board members". He added that his plan is to continue the construction project on Avenida La Plata, contribute money for reinforcements, and meet with head coach Damián Ayude to plan for the second half of the year.

He will not appear for questioning
This Thursday, the courts summoned Moretti for questioning, but, despite his institutional return, the president will not appear. The case was initiated by a criminal complaint from opposition member César Francis in Court No. 27, who accuses the president of bribery and corruption. For now, the executive's inner circle has not provided explanations for his absence in court.

Internal crisis: resignations looming?
His return has set off the alarm within the club. According to various sources, Julio Lopardo, interim president during the leave, and general secretary Martín Cigna are reportedly considering resigning if Moretti's return is confirmed.

The club keeps strict secrecy, but a tense atmosphere is expected at the next Board of Directors meeting. The internal divide threatens to deepen as the club faces one of its worst institutional crises in years.
