The desire of Juan Román Riquelme to bring back Nahitan Nández has become relevant again, this time from the player's own mouth. The Uruguayan midfielder, who is currently at Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia, confirmed that he is in contact with the president of Boca and that there is an intention for him to have a second spell at the club.
In a conversation with the Uruguayan program El Espectador Deportes, Nández surprised by sharing details of the talks. "Román sent me a message at the time and we were in contact for a while" he revealed. He added: "He tells me that I left a nice memory at Boca and that he would like me to wear the jersey again".

The midfielder even recounted a recent exchange in a lighthearted tone: "The other day, half-jokingly, he sent me a message asking if I was going to stay on vacation in Saudi Arabia or if I was going to come back". Although he did not provide details about a formal negotiation, his words rekindled the hopes of the Xeneize fans.
Since he moved to European soccer in 2019, Boca has never closed the door on his return. However, his current contract with Al-Qadsiah, which runs until 2027, and the high salary that he receives appear as major obstacles to making a return in the short term, even with the 2026 Copa Libertadores as a target on the horizon.
Meanwhile, Nández also spoke about his relationship with Edinson Cavani, with whom he shared a squad in the Uruguay national team. "I also talk with Edi often, on his birthday I wrote to him. He is coming back from injury and, although he has not had a good time at Boca, we all know what kind of player he is" he stated.

He also highlighted the striker's mentality: "What I admire about him is that he is there and he wants to change things. I have no doubt that he is going to do it because he is a great professional. This is soccer and he is going to figure out how to turn things around so that he can leave with good feelings".
