One year after his contentious departure from Boca, Nicolás Valentini broke his silence and gave his version of the negotiations that ended with his departure as a free agent. The current Hellas Verona defender stated that he always intended to renew and confirmed the low salary that he received at the club.
The talks to extend his contract were stalled for weeks. In the absence of an agreement, the leadership headed by Juan Román Riquelmedecided to remove him from the first-team squad and make him train in a separate shift.
In that context, the center-back said goodbye with a message on social media in which he stated:"I never wanted to leave this way, but there were decisions and actions in which I didn't have any influence". He had also stressed:"I always wanted to try to find a solution for the club that I support and that I always will support".
Valentini quería seguir en Boca
Now, in an interview, Valentini went deeper into the conflict and targeted the Football Council. "I was always willing to renew, I offered many alternatives. On the other side they didn't have the same intention, otherwise I would've signed again", he maintained, denying the reports that indicated that he had refused to extend his contract with the club.
Meanwhile, the defender cleared up the doubts and also confirmed how much he earned at that time. "It's true that they paid me a salary of 300 thousand pesos per month", he stated, in line with what Óscar Ruggeri had revealed some time ago on television.
Despite the controversial exit, Valentini made clear his gratitude toward the club where he developed. "Boca gave me everything, it was my home, I was there for ten years and I will always be grateful", he pointed out, although he acknowledged that "there are times when it doesn't depend only on the renewal and even though I offered many options it didn't happen".
Valentini sigue agradecido al club
After his departure from the La Ribera club, the defender signed with Fiorentina, but due to a lack of playing time he moved to Hellas Verona to get minutes in Serie A. His case adds to other recent conflicts between players who came through the club's youth system and the current management, in a period marked by contractual tensions and public disagreements.
