To close out 2025, La Derecha Diario chose the president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, as the "Person of the Year", in recognition of the policies, initiatives, and results achieved during the first year of his second presidential term, which began after his electoral victory in 2024.
The distinction is based on the political, economic, institutional, and cultural impact that the beginning of his new administration had both at the national and international levels.
Trump's return to the White House marked a political event of historic relevance. After having been the victim of clear electoral fraud in 2020, and after strong political persecution and even several assassination attempts during the 2024 electoral campaign, he returned to power with a defined agenda focused on border security, the reduction of the State, economic growth, and a direct confrontation with cultural progressivism within the U.S. public administration and worldwide.
During 2025, the Republican president recognized La Derecha Diario, in a context of greater international presence of this outlet, by inviting us and officially accrediting us at the White House to carry out coverage from the United States.
This decision allowed us to have close and direct monitoring of the government's policies and strengthened the bond between the U.S. Executive and the main right-wing outlet in the Spanish-speaking sphere, with the objective of countering the fake news of traditional left-wing media.

Border security and migration policy
One of the central pillars of the first year of the administration was the successful border security and migration control policy. The Trump administration fully implemented the "zero releases" policy, establishing that detained illegal immigrants are not to be released within U.S. territory, together with a militarization of the southern border to put an end to the entry of undocumented migrants.
According to official government figures, this strategy achieved a historic 93% drop in illegal border crossings compared with the previous year. In parallel, there was a departure of more than 2.5 million illegal immigrants from U.S. territory, both through deportations and through voluntary departure programs with incentives.
On the regional security front, Trump launched Operation "Southern Spear", a series of military actions directed against cartels and organizations classified as narco-terrorists in the Western Hemisphere, with the objective of dismantling their operational structures, their transnational influence, and stopping drug trafficking into the North American country.
Following these guidelines, the administration is currently exerting strong pressure against the Venezuelan regime of Nicolás Maduro, with the objective of forcing him to leave power and restoring stability to the Caribbean country. As part of this pressure, the Trump government established a blockade on sanctioned oil tankers that enter and leave Venezuela, even managing to intercept three vessels.

Meanwhile, as the U.S. president continues to evaluate the possibility of launching military actions against Maduro's tyranny, the secretary of State, Marco Rubio, asked U.S. citizens to leave Venezuela.
Another of Trump's standout policies toward Venezuela has been the order to close the airspace of the Caribbean country, blocking all air routes with the objective of choking off the flow of drug trafficking from Venezuela.
Economy, State, and the Big Beautiful Bill
In economic and administrative matters, one of the most relevant announcements was the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aimed at eliminating bureaucratic structures, repealing unnecessary regulations, and combating state waste. This body, led by figures from the private sector such as Elon Musk, achieved trillions of dollars in savings for U.S. taxpayers.

During the first year of the term, Wall Street reached historic highs, driven by a process of massive deregulation and tax cuts. The legislative core of this stage was the passage of the Big Beautiful Bill, the 2025 budget law.
This mega-initiative combined record funding for national defense and border security with a drastic cut in public spending. In addition, Trump not only extended the tax cuts implemented in 2017, but also approved a new tax reduction intended to encourage economic growth, with an impact on both workers and companies.
