President Javier Milei revealed that he is making progress in the purchase of French submarines and ships.

President Javier Milei confirmed that his government is moving forward with the purchase of submarines and ships from France as part of a plan to modernize the Armed Forces and strengthen Argentina's maritime defense.

During a recent interview, the president revealed that his administration is negotiating with Paris for the acquisition of submarines and vessels intended for patrolling the national coasts, also highlighting the diplomatic and commercial relationship with Emmanuel Macron's government.

“We're buying submarines and ships to patrol the coasts... France is one of the countries that invests the most in Argentina. We have a wonderful relationship” stated the head of state.

Milei emphasized that there is a "very cordial relationship and a very good dialogue with Macron," and stated that the bilateral understanding "works very well" both in terms of investments and technological and military cooperation.

The president stressed that France ranks among Argentina's main European trading partners and that the strengthening of the relationship translates not only into economic exchange but also into strategic alliances in defense and security.

The negotiations, which are being carried out through the Ministry of Defense, aim to modernize Argentina's naval fleet and reinforce maritime patrol and control capabilities, especially in the vast exclusive economic zone of the South Atlantic, where the country's most valuable fishing resources are concentrated.

A new stage in foreign policy

With this announcement, Milei reaffirms his strategy of rebuilding alliances with Western powers, prioritizing agreements with countries that promote free markets, technological innovation and transparent military cooperation.

The operation with France adds to the progress in energy, infrastructure and defense that the Argentine government has been promoting since taking office, as part of a foreign policy aimed at strengthening ties with Europe, the United States and Israel.

"We have an excellent relationship with France, I think it's a relationship that works very well" Milei concluded.
