Real Madrid dedicated an emotional minute of silence to Loco Gatti at Bernabéu
While he never played there, he had a great connection with the Madridist club, which dedicated this tribute to him before the crucial match against Mallorca
The Santiago Bernabéu stadium was the scene of an emotional tribute to Hugo Orlando Gatti, the historic Argentine goalkeeper, with a minute of silence before the match between Real Madrid and Real Mallorca.
The figure of the former goalkeeper was projected on the giant screens located high in the stadium, as part of a gesture that highlighted the emotional bond he had with the Madrid institution, presided over by Florentino Pérez, with whom he had a great friendship, and to which he used to attend as a spectator whenever he traveled to the Spanish capital.

During the tribute, the players of both teams showed their respect, and the one who was especially moved was Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of the white team, who in his playing days was a contemporary of El Loco.
With a career spanning 26 years, Gatti left an indelible mark on Argentine soccer, especially at Boca, where he wrote one of the most important chapters in its history. He also defended the colors of Atlanta, River, and Gimnasia, clubs where he also excelled between the posts.
At the international level, Gatti played 14 matches with the Argentine National Team, representing the country in prestigious competitions and showing his commitment to the albiceleste jersey. After hanging up his gloves in 1988, he reinvented himself as a sports commentator and gained great notoriety in Spain thanks to his participation in the television program El Chiringuito, where his provocative style and unfiltered opinions made him a well-known figure.

In contrast, it didn't go unnoticed among Boca fans that the club didn't hold a minute of silence in his memory last Saturday, during the match against Lanús in the round of 16 of the Torneo Apertura at La Bombonera, where the team, led on an interim basis by Mariano Herrón, advanced to the next phase through penalties.
