Given the refusals from Andino and Carrizo, Millonario resumed negotiations with Benfica and is preparing a second proposal to add the former Vélez player

The transfer market forced River to change course in the search for attacking reinforcements. The refusals from Santino Andino, who has already agreed to join Panathinaikos of Greece, and from Maher Carrizo, who chose to wait for offers from Europe, left the club without two key targets and forced it to reopen other negotiations.
With that scenario, the board decided to resume contact with Benfica in an attempt to unblock Gianluca Prestianni's arrival. After a first failed attempt, in Núñez they are willing to modify the conditions that had caused the Portuguese club's negative response and to submit an offer closer to its expectations.
The new plan includes an offer of around 6 million dollars for 50% of the player's rights, along with the commitment to acquire the remaining percentage at a future date. Unlike the previous cases, Prestianni would be willing to push for the deal to go through and thus gain continuity.
Prestianni quiere sumar continuidad de cara al Mundial 2026
Although Benfica's formal response is still pending, and it is seeking to recoup the approximately 9 million euros it invested when it bought him from Vélez, the player's camp is optimistic about the possibility of reaching a successful outcome.
The player's wish is clear:to gain prominence and competitive minutes in order to position himself in the fight for a place on the Argentina national team roster for the 2026 World Cup. In River, meanwhile, they are hoping that this time the search will have a happy ending.
Prestianni's numbers at Benfica
Since his arrival at the beginning of 2024, the former Vélez player has played 47 matches between the first team and the reserves of the Portuguese club. In his appearances he has accumulated a total of 1965 minutes, in which he has scored 5 goals and provided 6 assists. He has also won one title: the 2025 Portuguese Super Cup.
