San Lorenzo confirmed this Tuesday the total recovery of the historic lands of Boedo, an announcement of enormous symbolic impact for the club's institutional life, but which came amid a particular political context: there are only four days left until the early elections on May 30, in which Sergio Costantino, the current provisional leader, will seek to be elected president after taking over on an interim basis following the scandalous departure of Marcelo Moretti.
The leader led the event held at the Nuevo Gasómetro under the slogan "Now yes, the return to Boedo is complete", where the incorporation of the last 8,345 square meters that were still outside the azulgrana control was made official. "Today we can say that the return is complete. We achieved the totality of the square meters that we have always had throughout our history", expressed Costantino during the presentation.
The recovered lands were in the hands of Carrefour and passed to the Corporación Buenos Aires Sur, an agency dependent on the City Government. Now, they will be ceded to San Lorenzo for a period of 50 years to advance with the project of the new stadium on Avenida La Plata.
As part of the agreement, the club must fulfill various obligations related to infrastructure and social actions. Among them are sports scholarships for children from Commune 8, the construction of a green corridor of 1,600 square meters, and the execution of 20% of the work over the next ten years.
