San Lorenzo fired Damián Ayude after the tough loss to Defensa y Justicia

After being thrashed 2-5 against Defensa y Justicia in the New Gasometer, San Lorenzo decided to put an end to the Damián Ayude cycle. The tough result ended up deepening the team's bad sporting momentum and accelerated a decision that the management had been evaluating.

The club's temporary president, Sergio Costantino, met with the coach early this Tuesday and informed him of the decision before the start of training.

Although he had a contract until the end of the year, the weak numbers so far in 2026 precipitated his dismissal: in ten games, the Cuervo achieved three wins, four draws and three losses, in addition to a four-game losing streak.

Hours before, at the post-defeat press conference against Falcon de Varela, Ayude had assured that he was not going to give up: “Obviously I'm not going to step aside. There is training planned for tomorrow and we are also optimistic to reverse the situation. I think we have to change a lot because we had several faults on the defensive level, which logically involve the entire team and give me responsibility

Now, the team will be under the interim management of Alan Capobianco, current Reserva coach, who will work alongside Pablo Alvarado as the club moves forward in the
