San Lorenzo players issued a statement regarding unpaid salaries

With Iker Muniain at the helm, Ciclón's squad made clear their discontent with the club's economic and institutional situation

The captain of San Lorenzo, Iker Muniain, used his social media to send a strong message directed at the club's management due to the lack of payments, a situation that led to the suspension of the training session before the quarterfinal match of the 2025 Apertura Tournament.

The Spanish attacking midfielder chose his Instagram account to highlight the debt affecting both him and his teammates. "The players of the professional squad want to publicly express our deep concern and discomfort about the delicate situation we are going through," was the phrase with which the statement shared in his stories began.

The players of the professional squad express their concern about the current situation, as they have gone months without receiving salaries, which affects their families and their professional activity. They have been patient and responsible, but they believe it is time to speak up. Recent events are seen as an insult to them, and it is not just an economic issue, but one of respect and decent working conditions. They hope the situation will be solved urgently and seriously, seeking a fair solution.

"We have gone several months without receiving our salaries, which not only directly affects our families but also jeopardizes the normal development of our professional activity. We have been patient, understanding, and responsible, fulfilling our training, matches, and commitments every day, always prioritizing the club, its colors, and its people," the message continued, reflecting the widespread discontent of the squad.

Muniain also justified the decision to halt sports activities: "We believe it is time to raise our voices. Given the publicly known events that have occurred in recent hours, we consider these events as a mockery toward this working group. It is not just an economic issue, but one of respect, dignity, and basic working conditions that every worker deserves."

"We hope this situation is solved with the urgency and seriousness it requires. We are not seeking conflict, but a concrete and fair solution," the statement concluded, in a firm yet conciliatory tone.

This claim comes amid a deep institutional crisis that contrasts with the team's current sports performance. Despite the serious internal problems, San Lorenzo remains in the race in the Apertura Tournament, where it managed to qualify for the quarterfinals. Beyond that, the Ciclón will face a tough challenge in pursuit of a spot in the semifinals, as this Monday it will face Argentinos Juniors at the Diego Armando Maradona.
