FIFA published the complete list of nominees for The Best 2025 awards this Wednesday, which recognize the best male and female players of the year, as well as the most outstanding coaches, goalkeepers, and fans in the world. Voting is now open and will run until November 28, with the participation of captains, coaches, journalists, and fans from the 211 member federations of the organization.
In this edition, European dominance is evident: the squads of FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain account for a large share of the nominations. In the men's category, young Lamine Yamal is among the candidates for best player, seeking to follow in the footsteps of his teammate's recent Ballon d'Or, Ousmane Dembélé. In the women's category, Aitana Bonmatí stands out as the main favorite to win her third consecutive award.
Regarding Argentine representation, the country will once again be present at The Best with two nominees. The first is Emiliano "Dibu" Martínez, who will once again compete for the award for best goalkeeper in the world. The Aston Villa goalkeeper, who won in 2022 and 2024, will seek to repeat his dominance in the category against top-tier rivals such as Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), Gianluigi Donnarumma (Manchester City), Alisson Becker (Liverpool), Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich), David Raya (Arsenal), and Wojciech Szczęsny (Barcelona).

The second national representative is Alejandro Ciganotto, Racing fan, nominated for the FIFA The Best Fan Award. His story went around the world after walking from Argentina to Rio de Janeiro to attend the Copa Libertadores semifinal between la Academia and Flamengo. He will compete with the iconic Manolo "el del Bombo", a symbol of Spanish fandom, and with the supporters of Zakho from Iraq, recognized for their passion in one of the most challenging football environments.
