After dictator Maduro's fall, a leak confirms what Trump told Delcy Rodríguez

After the capture of dictator Nicolás Maduro on January 3, the White House gave Delcy Rodríguez and other members of the Chavista cabinet 15 minutes to decide whether to comply with Trump's demands or otherwise they would be neutralized.
Delcy herself confessed this in an almost two-hour meeting with Chavista influencers. The audio of that meeting, which took place seven days after the U.S. attack, was leaked a few hours ago by a local journalistic collective.
The recording reveals the concerns of the surviving figures of the communist regime about being treated as traitors after the capture of their leader and their efforts to prevent the political movement from imploding. "The only thing I would ask for is unity," Rodríguez says in her call to the group.
Before the interim leader of Venezuela spoke, the then minister of communications, Freddy Ñáñez, sought to defend her by calling for an end to "gossip, rumors, intrigues, and attempts to discredit." The Chavista official added that Rodríguez is "the only guarantee we have that we can bring back the president and the first lady, but also turn the page and reconfigure our forces."

Speaking about the U.S. military operation, the former vice president said that "the threats began from the first minute they kidnapped the president. They gave Diosdado [Cabello], Jorge [Rodríguez], and me 15 minutes to respond, or they would kill us."
Rodríguez said that, at the beginning, U.S. troops told her, her brother Jorge Rodríguez, and Cabello that Maduro had been killed, not arrested, and that the three members of the Chavista leadership were "ready to meet the same fate."
"I tell you that we maintain that position to this day, because the threats and blackmail are constant, and we must proceed with patience and strategic prudence, with very clear objectives, brothers and sisters," the former foreign minister of the dictatorship said, before listing three goals: "to preserve peace, to rescue our hostages, and to preserve political power."

Far from being willing to die for the Revolution, what remains of Chavismo in Venezuela has submitted to U.S. tutelage. In fact, this week Washington officials said that Rodríguez would soon visit the capital of the United States to meet with Trump.
"We are in a process of dialogue, of working with the United States, without any fear, to confront our differences and difficulties... and to address them through diplomacy," Maduro's former running mate said on Wednesday.
Since Maduro's capture, Rodríguez and company have tried to sell their supporters the idea that they were defying Trump, but their actions indicate that the survivors of the Chavista dictatorship will cooperate with Washington.
